Firewood Storage, Sensible DIY:
One of the most practical and common DIY projects with firewood is building a firewood shed or rack. This will help you keep your firewood dry, organized, and accessible. There are many ways to design and construct a firewood storage, depending on your space, budget, and preference. Here are some examples of firewood storage projects you can try: Simple and quick to build.
The Easy Firewood Rack: This firewood rack is simple and quick to build, using only metal poles and fittings. You can adjust the size and shape of the rack to fit your needs. The metal bars keep the wood neatly stacked and create a modern look1.
The Greenhouse Firewood Shed: This shed is unique and not something you see regularly. It combines a firewood shed with a greenhouse, allowing you to store your firewood and grow your plants in one place. The shed has a wooden frame and a transparent roof that lets in sunlight. The firewood acts as a thermal mass that absorbs and releases heat, creating a favorable microclimate for the plants2.
The Pallet Firewood Shed: This shed is a great way to recycle and reuse old pallets. You can build a sturdy and spacious firewood shed with minimal cost and effort, using only pallets, nails, and a hammer. The shed has both sides and a roof, protecting the firewood from rain and snow3.
This was a very fun and easy project to build with my youngest son. The kit is very well built and works extremely well. I am local to the BLUE RIDGE TIMBERS woodyard and was able to pick this up in person while picking up a cord of firewood. The yard manager who loaded up my trailer, even added the 2x4's to build this kit at no additional cost, simply for being a new customer. This will surely be my go-to place for everything firewood! 👍
